La Era Restaurante

N.I. Score: 8.6

I was asking what this bread was and my server misunderstood and gave it to me.  Turns out this was an excellent mistake.  I don't think I've had better starter bread at a restaurant.  This raisin bread [that I usually won't get] surprised me.  It was near-crispy on the outside, and near-doughy on the inside.  The raisin provides a hint of sweetness.  It was served warm.  I wanted 10 of those but had to reluctantly restrain myself to save room for the main courses.  I wasn't even going to take a picture [you can see my bite at the top] but this was incredible bread.

N.I. Score: 7.4

Regular, less impressive bread.  Still had that crispy + soft.

N.I. Score: 7.6

Tomato bread.

N.I. Score: 7.8

Complimentary shot of soup.  Served way too hot.

N.I. Score: 8.8

Vieiras a la plancha con cigalas y miel de sus cabezas-
I have had many scallop dishes.  What usually happens is that they are cooked well [as in timing/heat/texture], but lacking in flavor or has a sauce that clashes.  This dish, with honey, two sauces [sweet and salty], combines excellently with the scallops.  The flaky crumbs on top of the scallop adds additional texture.  The crayfish/lobster was cooked just right as well and adds substance to this dish.

N.I. Score: 7.9

Merluza de pincho escaldada con su piel artesanal, jugo de
setas y salteado de ajetes, zanahorias y shimeji- Hake padded with mushrooms, with a flaky skin on top.

 N.I. Score: 8.1

Terrina de Foie Micuit al torchón con confitura de zanahorias,
gelée de Castadiva y uvas al vino tinto- A Foie gras "steak" with grapes.  Very rich.

 N.I. Score: 8.1

A lemon sorbet/crystal type palate cleanser.

 N.I. Score: 8.5

A semi-sweet vanilla ice-cream with chocolate souffle.  Nice touch with raspberry syrup clef note.

 N.I. Score: 7.3

Thin wafer.

I don't generally comment on value, but all this + wine pairing was 57 euros tax incl.  I don't know where I can find value like this in the US.  Amazing.
